Sunny days are here again

My health is returning. I managed a 6 mile run yesterday.

Got through a big push at work.

The kitchen is maybe a week away from our next stopping point.

Life is good. Time to start exploring again.

Macro Delirium

I have an allergy induced cold and I am miserable.

This guy was on my bedroom ceiling. I wasn’t sure if he was real or a fever induced apparition, but the camera doesn’t lie. Maybe I should try and re-read Naked Lunch. It would probably make sense now.

You can't do this with a point and shoot

Several years ago I went to a lecture and slideshow by a PhD zoologist and National Geographic Photographer. He was a very entertaining speaker and very excited about bugs. I don't recall his talk going into spiritual matters, but I suspect someone such as he - an explorer, full of wonder, actively seeking new experiences, in awe of everything - must have that non-rational numinous experiential gnostic thing going on. Or maybe I am projecting. It's good to pay attention to the small things right in front of you.

Dinner Guest

Angel and I were having corn-on-the-cob on the back porch this evening for dinner and this guy walked by.

My neighbors are pigs

5:30 AM, 18 mile run through the desert. Delirious and exhausted at the end, I encountered 3 adolescent boys wearing camouflage and welding masks, shooting each other with pneumatic paintball guns. Too exhausted to protest, I ran right through the middle of their war game and brought the shooting to a stop. A few minutes later, only a mile from home, a large snake was in my path. He stopped moving as I approached. I greeted him and carried on, passing on the tail side. Another talisman trying to pass on a message.

Susan was on fire in the pulpit this morning. I will post a link to her sermon. It was unbelievably synchronistic and relevant to current events in Scott's World.

The neighbors came by this evening hoping to mooch some free food:

With a smile like this, I was inclined to oblige them:Look at these teeth!:

Unsatisfied, they searched my garage for something tasty (#1. Hey man. This welder smells like ass. #2. No man, You smell like ass. #3 Well get your nose out of his butt.):The kitchen is progressing. Here's the 360 degree view:>

Backyard Safari

As I ate breakfast on the back porch this morning:

Mrs. Dove watched from above the door:
Mrs. Gila Woodpecker woke up the neighborhood with her machine gun rapping on the sheet metal on top of my chimney:
Mr. Gamble Quail chased the Mrs. all over the back yard singing "baby I'm just your love machine:"
And Stick Bug lounged on my jasmine bush:

I love my new camera.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

My new camera arrived today.
A self portrait. In the bathroom mirror. With my new camera. And some insight into my body image issues.

An old guy on a mountain bike with a kick stand

An old guy named Bill did the Blue Loop on a mountain bike with a kick stand, went more or less as fast as I did, and stopped to take a lot of great pictures. Humble pie.

Ventura Highway

When I finished up with work in LA, I drove up to Ventura to hang out with Evan and his new wife Crys. Big shindig on Saturday night – Evan’s 40th birthday party. Old college friends coming in from all over. Should be a wild time, as wild as a bunch of married 40 year olds can get.

I ran 14 miles this morning through Sycamore Canyon, my old mountain biking haunt. The plan was to swim in the Pacific, but it was cloudy, cold and foggy when I finished and I could not bring myself to get in the water. Maybe tomorrow.
